Why does my toshiba satellite laptop have a smokey smell coming from the vent?

On my laptop pc toshiba satellite, Ive been noticed that Smokey smell from the vent. Does anyone know what could be causing this smell? How do I solve this problem and is it expensive?

It is very likely just burn the dust / hot hot components. You should probably try and vacuum on the vent and try to unscrew the bottom and vacuum inside the laptop and get rid of any dust.

Hello, I bought this laptop from a friend, he has a virus on it, and I was wondering, how can I simply delete everything on it, so it can be like a new laptop with nothing ? Also, if I delete everything (format) it is clear the virus, and there are still windows of which he has now?
