Websters Dictionary?

Does anyone know how many words are in the current version of Websters dictionary? How new words obtained in the dictionary? How the deleted words, if the lyrics are really deleted?

A group of people who read a lot going on the words that appear in the majority opinion of the leading publications as The New York Times or that are known for literary flair and good writing, like the New Yorker to find new words that are used, or used in new ways, or define new concepts. When a word appears quite often (like "black hole", a phrase, strictly speaking), they considered part of the language, and put it in the dictionary. If a word is not used (like say, "Brewer, who is Scottish dialect for the sauce on a slice of bread), they win.The idea is to have a volume that can be lifted and carried around (unlike a full dictionary, which can sit on a stand in a library), however, still be useful to anyone who can read English. These are people most likely to have doctorates in English. They are paid by the company which publishes the dictionary in question, as Merriam / Webster or Random House. Some do it full time and some are college professors who consult.
Back in the sixties there was a rage about how the third edition of Merriam / Webster rose from normative (telling people how to speak properly) to descriptive (noting how people actually speak, but not making value judgments about it). Linguists most conservative of us think that the language was in disarray, if people could see the "not" and discover it was an abbreviation of "am not.
