A difficult question to answer without information on the state, a package which is part of a package, etc.. .

What happened to the print-based encyclopedia industry when PC CD-ROM and now on the Internet (Wikipedia) rose to prominence?

Encyclopedia Britannica still has a presence online, but seller still sell all 30 volumes? Only schools and libariries to buy now?

Are Collier's and the book world still alive?

Is this an industry that has blossomed with the PC or suffered?

Industry must go online encyclopedia or die. Books on paper will be obsolete and collectibles in our lifetime.
