How can one make a mechanical calculator?
I recently traced the complete plans for a ringtone, auto-rewind clock, all legos. Now I want a new challenge. Does anybody out there know where I may find patterns in early mechanical calculators big? So before the entry into Curtas popularity. I want to make add, subtract, multiply, divide, and perhaps find the root of a number scuare.

It's a start. Sounds like fun - happy hunting.
Suggestions for a graphing calculator for mechanical engineering student?
I'm going to be a mechanical engineering student in the fall and I look just suggestions for a new graphing calculator would be very useful. Budget is not a problem, I'm looking for the best i could get or something like that.
TI-89 is very popular and powerful.
The Astounding Curta Mechanical Calculator
At the jaw-dropping ingenuity of this fascinating hand-held mechanical calculating machine.
The «Antikythera Mechanism» in Sydney
The Antikythera mechanism, one of the oldest in every way suitable known devices, is a fossilized mechanical simulator, also described as the first known mechanical computer designed to calculate astronomical positions, which has puzzled and intrigued historians study and technology since it was recovered from a 80 BC wipe off the key of Antikythera in 1901.Dated to about 150-100 BC, the complexity of how the device works was so upsetting to scientists at the outset, they often have gadget Meetings, suspecting it could be as old as he really was. Technological artifacts of similar complexity did not reappear until the 14th century, when mechanical astronomical clocks appear in Europe.A presentation on the structure has been made recently by Professor Robert Hannah Standard Segment studies at the University of Otago in New Zealand to a ledge full audience at the University of Sydney in Australia, which has attempted to examine the workings of Mechanicalism and, more importantly, to unfold How Greeks fossils were qualified to design such a complex mechanism, scrupulous and cosmopolitan, there are more than 2,000 years, pointing out that scientists are still studying and irritant untangle the machine.Shortly before Easter 1900, Elias Stadiatis, a Greek sponge diver, discovered the crush of a car leaving fossil Eyot off Antikythera in a region of 42 m (138 ft). Assorted Sponge retrieved several statues and other objects of capsizing. The device itself was discovered May 17, 1901, when archaeologist Valerios Stais noticed that the same thing to drive recovered from the town had a local work embedded in it. Evaluation revealed that the scarp "was in the frame strongly encrusted and corroded equipment that had survived the shipwreck in three sections of pipes and dozens of smaller fragments. The machine itself was surprisingly thin, about 33 cm (13 in.) weight, 17 cm (6....

Father of calculus and calculators born 365 years ago What would have happened if as an alternative of going off into the realms of the ridiculous Leibniz had managed to make the connection between his mechanical calculator and binary? Perhaps the information age would have been introduced along with steam engines. |
Who invented the personal computer? (hint: not IBM)
"Within a few years the glissade rule joined the mechanical calculator on the shelves of museums" Cerruzi notes. They were also programmable. In the 1970s, I remember that my forefather, an electrical engineer, bought a relatively expensive device, which,

3D Printed Mechanical Trigonometry Calculator
Okay this 3D-printed trigonometry calculator is to all intents not the first thing I would make if I had a 3D printer – but I hate math… with a passion. I understand that some people don't and that others indeed find math quite awesome. and more »

The History of Programming
It was the first mechanical calculator that had more capabilities than most people take in. Did you know that the Abacus was used to help the blind count? I guess it could be said that it was the first 508-compliant gambit, and it was also used to
