Strongest indoor digital tv antenna - must reach over 40 miles away?

Hi, I'm looking for an indoor antenna for digital TV to pick up HD / digital channels. The problem is all the towers are about 41 miles away. I tried a simple antenna RCA Wal-Mart, but it was not strong enough. Any suggestion for a digital indoor antenna that can reach more than 40 miles?

Adding an amplifier will not help. Amplifiers help if the aerial signal is good, but there are losses in the cables along a roof to the TV.

I just bought a new LCD TV and it has an input for a digital TV antenna. I was wondering if I should buy one.
